12 - PLAGIARISM

Technology of today keeps improving, and most of us consider technology as a big help in our work and in our life. Being exposed to technology was very helpful indeed, yet having this kind of ability and control with what we use most people abuse what they benefit from it. Having every information about almost everything present in the world put into digital and published online, many people find all of this information and copy it without acknowledging where they got it and who published it, and this is what we call Plagiarism.

The definition of plagiarism according to the online dictionary which is dictionary.com, it is an act or instance of using or closely imitating the language and thoughts of another author without authorization and the representation of that author's work as one's own, as by not crediting the original author. While plagiarism according to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own or to present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source.

But is Plagiarism really a crime?
Here in the Philippines we have a law that governs intellectual property known as the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines and this is named as the Republic Act No.8293. This is an act prescribing the intellectual property code and establishing the intellectual property office, providing for its powers and function, and for other purposes, therefore plagiarism is a crime.

From now on, we should site our references with the right format. There is this what we call A.P.A which stands for American Psychological Association, this a style which is commonly used to cite sources. Using APA style in citing references helps us to give proper acknowledgement for the author's/publisher's/site's...etc. work, therefore using it doesn't only helps us with the information but it also helps us to be safe from the work of plagiarism.

10 - Aerobic Exercise is the Best Way to Lose Weight

Many people are into being fit and healthy, and some are struggling with what they call "diet" while some spend too much in the gym. Going to the gym or lifting weights is said to be the best way to be fit and healthy, but a research say that Aerobic Exercise is the best and most affordable way to lose weight and burn unhealthy fats.

Before anything else, let me share you more about Aerobic Exercise. According to Medicine Net, Aerobic exercise also known as Cardio is any activity that you can sustain for more than just a few minutes while your heart, lungs, and muscles work overtime. This kind of exercise requires pumping of oxygenated blood by the heart to deliver oxygen to working muscles, it stimulates the heart rate and breathing rate to increase in a way that can be sustained for the exercise session. Having known of the facts about Aerobics, I realized that Aerobics should be limited to how long can you do the exercise because if the level of intensity is too high, it is no longer an aerobic exercise. Aerobic exercise includes running, swimming, dancing, hiking, walking, kickboxing, and other activities that makes your breathing a bit hard, makes your heart thump, and lets your blood course through your vessels to deliver oxygen to the muscles to keep you moving.

weight loss

But what makes Aerobic exercise the best way to lose wight or to burn unhealthy fats? Why not weights or go to the gym? Well, as I research about it I have found answers from the site of Medical News Today and Live Science, and they have included there that "according to the study of an expert group from Duke University people, who did both aerobic exercise and resistance training, they did not see further improvements to their health — in terms of liver fat, insulin resistance and other measures — beyond those who did only aerobic exercise." "Their study, published in the Journal of Applied Physiology, is the biggest randomized trial to measure revisions in body composition from three different types of exercise in overweight adults who do not have diabetes, and results showed that people who did aerobics for eight months lost about 2.5 square inches of belly fat, as measured on a CT scan. That's about 1.5 times as much as people who did a combination of aerobic exercise and weight lifting, and about 20 times as much as those who only lifted weights. "Resistance training is great for improving strength and increasing lean body mass," said study researcher Cris Slentz, an exercise physiologist at Duke University. But aerobic exercise is better for losing belly fat because it burns more calories, he said. "

Fats are the ones that we consider in gaining weight and just to add up belly fats, to be more specific, are said to be more of danger than other fats because a study have shown that belly fats comes with higher risks of heart disease, diabetes and certain kinds of cancer, and that is why we need to burn it through the help of doing some cardio exercise. However, a study conducted by researchers at the Center for Brain Health at The University of Texas at Dallas have found that Aerobic exercise doesn't only limits its benefits to the physical health of a person, especially aging adults, but also mentally and/or emotionally. From the site of Center Brain Health : " The study, sedentary adults ages 57-75 were randomized into a physical training or a wait-list control group. The physical training group participated in supervised aerobic exercise on a stationary bike or treadmill for one hour, three times a week for 12 weeks. Participants’ cognition, resting cerebral blood flow, and cardiovascular fitness were assessed at three time points: before beginning the physical exercise regimen, mid-way through at 6 weeks, and post-training at 12 weeks. “By measuring brain blood flow non-invasively using arterial spin labeling (ASL) MRI, we can now begin to detect brain changes much earlier than before,” said Sina Aslan, Ph.D., founder and president of Advance MRI and collaborator on the study. Exercisers who improved their memory performance also showed greater increase in brain blood flow to the hippocampus, the key brain region affected by Alzheimer’s disease. “Physical exercise may be one of the most beneficial and cost-effective therapies widely available to everyone to elevate memory performance,” Chapman said."

Wow! Aerobics really is beneficial for everyone. Having known that this kind of exercise doesn't require a lot of money and of your time plus its extra benefits on our mental health, I am much more inspired and motivated to be fit and healthy. Since at first, most of us had no idea that a simple walk is already an aerobic exercise I hope that as you have read this blog of mine you too were amazed and inspired. So keep your body moving and stay healthy! :)

9 - PARASYTE

Parasyte is a 2014 Japanese science fiction action horror film directed by Takashi Yamazaki. This movie is a bout aliens, which are the parasytes, entering a human brain to be able to control its body and to continue their plan which is to take over the world but there was a teenager named Shinichi Izumi had blocked the alien's way to his brain which is why it stayed in his right hand and the next day it introduced itself to Shinichi as Migi. Since then it turned out to be weird for Shinichi for having a weird creature in his hand, but then as days pass by having no choice, he goes to school with his alien invaded hand spend time with it in learning things such as human activities and how human speak. Migi has a great sense when it come to detecting another parasyte with this Migi and Shinichi met some of them like Tamiya, Shimada, and A.

Migi having a suspicious feeling about A made Shinichi worried and a bit scared. One night Shinichi was on his way home, Migi had warned him about his sense of A's presence and  A's thought of killing them and so with Migi's warning Shinichi tried to run away to avoid A but he failed and so him and Migi had no choice but to face A. They were able to defend themselves but it wasn't enough to kill A and so A finds a new body and he had saw Shinichi's mother whom he transfered to. At the same night, Shinichi was home laying on his bed but then came again Migi's sense of A getting near to where they are, and so Shinichi panicked and went down grab a knife and saw her mom without listening to Migi's warning that it's not his mom but it's A, having wait no more A instantly attacked Shinichi. Shinichi almost died but with the help of Migi's intelligence Migi used his tiny cells to cover up the holes in Shinichi's chest, heart, and back, with that Shinichi woke up and cried. On that day on Shinichi had some changes with his attitude and abilities or strength which is the result of the cells of Migi in Shinichi's body. On the same day Shinichi went to school to talk to Tamiya and ask her about where he can find A, but Tamiya didn't tell him.

One day Shimada was the model for the paintings of Shinichi's classmates, but one of them picked out a hair of Shimada and got shocked because Shimada's hair was moving (alive) with this everyone in the room got scared of Shimada for they already know he is not human, and so Shimada started to threaten the girls and kill them but Satomi, the girl friend of Shinichi was able to run. Having heard of all the screams along the hallways Shinichi immediately run to find what had caused such uncontrolled behavior but as he got to a floor he saw dead bodies of girls and so he tried to fight Shimada with the help of Migi and Tamiya and so he was able to save Satomi. After what had happened, Tamiya decided to give the address of where A was hiding and so Shinichi immediately go to that place. He Had a fight with A with only having Migi formed as a sharp and strong weapon for Shinichi, and Sinichi was able to defeat A for his mother somehow saved him. From that day on, accepting the fact that one would die if another dies, Migi and Shinichi dedcided to join forces against other parasites.

8 - School Of Managers Week 2015

This year’s School of Managers week with the theme of A.L.D.U.B. which means Aligning Directions for Unified Business started last October 26 and ended last October 30, 2015. In this event of the A.P.C. the name of school for Accountancy and Business (SOAB) was to School of Managers (SOM). In the duration of this event, I can say it was fun or there were a lot of activities prepared for us SOM students, and what’s more fun is that this event was open for all courses meaning all student of APC are welcome to join and participate in all of the activities.

First in the line of activities of the first day of SOM week was the parade. To walk around Magallanes village was a bit exhausting yet a meaningful activity for the SOM students for through the parade we showed that we are excited and warming up for the prepared activities for us.
BM 151 READY FOR THE PARADE

The first day of the week was actually a big day for the athletes of SOM for it was the day of some game related to sports. Every course under SOM has only one team which includes a student of SOM from a freshmen to a graduating student, and so as for BM basketball men won its first game.

The second day of SOM week had a new set of activities lined up but unfortunately I wasn't able to attend the major activities for that day therefore I will just share you what I had done on the third day. On this third day of  the SOM week we weren't able to watch and support  the two representative of BM 151 who participated on the BM team for Badminton but with their faith and trust they have for themselves and for the team the won as the champion and first runner up. I considered October 28 a productive day, well because morning on that day me along with my classmates attended a seminar about Cultural Diversity in Business. On that seminar I have realized that in the real world the members of a specific group, organization, company, or institution will always be diverse. When afternoon came, me and some of my classmates volunteered to facilitate the activity of BMAG which is the running man. Running Man was actually a game thought by the BMAG of APC which is similar to the very known Amazing Race, this game was open for all students of APC including of course our Senior High.
Our picture after the facilitating the Running Man(Left to Right: Benjamin Bajet, Jemarie Baquiran, Peter Son, Tiffany Bendebel, Katherine Camacho, Alyssa Pagaduan, Grace Padilla)

Last but not the least, the fifth day of the SOM week was a blast because this day me and some of my classmates supported and watched the CHAMPIONSHIP for the basketball men's game of BM vs. AC . We really cheered and yell just to support the BM team and of course the two pride of BM 151 ; Nicolo Conta and Mason Davis, and so with pride the BM won as the Champion of Basketball Men. As the clock turns to 6:00 we headed to the auditorium and I think the program started past 6:30, and so as the program started the crowd got hyped and everyone was excited. The parents, friends, and of course the blockmates of every candidate of the pageant were present, each of them looked stunning and fabulous in their clothing and that they gave their best in ramping on stage and answering the questions. The time comes for announcing the Top 3 finalist for both male and female category; there was a Business Management candidate, a Marketing Advertising candidate, and Accountancy candidate for the male category, while two of the Tourism Management candidates and one Marketing Advertising candidate for the female category. The Top 3 finalists were asked with the same question which is in a clear night sky with many stars, being one of the stars how would people or a person notice you as different from the other stars, each of the top 3 were nervous but did well. After showing again the AVPs of the sponsors, announcing of winners or places has come, for the second runner up are Ms. Debbie Dimaunahan of the Tourism Management and Mr. Latrell Sombilon of the Accountancy, for the first runner up are Ms. Jamilah Pecayo of the Tourism Management and Mr. Clark Malon of the Business Management, lastly is the Mr. and Ms. SOM 2015 are Ms.  Jenna Rose Cruz of the Marketing and Advertising and Mr. Karyll Lapuz of the Marketing and Advertising as well.
The Candidates for MR and MS. SOM 2015

SOM week as a whole was FUN and full of EXCITEMENT, and with this many were hoping to happen this kind of management again for the next year's SOM Week.
